Biography

Craig M. Geno is a member of the Law Offices of Craig M. Geno, PLLC of Ridgeland, Mississippi. He received his Liberal Arts (1975) and Law Degrees (1978) from the University of Mississippi, serving on the Moot Court Board while in law school. Mr. Geno is a member of the American Bar Association, Mississippi State Bar Association (President of the Law Office Economics Section, 1993-1994), Mississippi Bar Foundation, Federal Bar Association (Southern District Vice-President, 1989-1990, Mississippi Chapter), and the Mississippi Bankruptcy Conference (President, 2001). He is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute (Seminar Chairman for the Small Business Sub-committee); a participant in the American Bankruptcy Institute Task Force on Subchapter V; the Business Bankruptcy Sub-committee of the Section of Business Law of the American Bar Association; the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees; and the Turnaround Management Association. He is a fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy, a fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation, a fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a charter member of the Best Attorneys of America, listed as a “Top Fifty Attorney” with Super Lawyers, and the Law Offices of Craig M. Geno, PLLC is listed with the U.S. News & Best Lawyers “Best Law Firms.” 

Mr. Geno is certified in Business Bankruptcy by the American Board of Certification, served on its Board of Directors for eight years and served as national president and as its chairman. He served the Mississippi State Bar as Special Counsel for the Committee on Character and Fitness in 1984-1987, and served as a member of the Committee on Character and Fitness from 1987 through 2013. His bankruptcy practice consists of representation of secured and unsecured creditors, unsecured creditors’ committees, Chapter 11 debtors-in-possession and bankruptcy trustees in Chapter 7 and 11 cases. Additionally, he has served as a trustee in Chapter 11 cases. He is also a Subchapter V trustee in the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi and the Western District of Tennessee. In 2023, Mr. Geno and others were awarded the 2023 Asset Sale of the Year by the Asset Sales Committee of the American Bankruptcy Institute. Additionally, in 2023, Mr. Geno and others were awarded the Mid-Size Company Turnaround/Transaction of the Year award by Turnaround Management Association. 

Mr. Geno is a frequent writer and lecturer on various bankruptcy topics. His practice areas also include commercial and corporate litigation.
